Don’t be surprised if like so many people you find yourself totally confused and frustrated by the weight loss industry.

As a doctor I am often “allowed” to see the “back end” of this racket.

You see I get to look at “opportunities” to make me MONEY and help???? You loose weight.  What could be more honorable right? I mean it’s like a win – win situation right? Right, Right, Right?

No it’s actually wrong , very wrong.  In fact I believe it borders on an ethics violation for a doctor, who is supposed to be a health care professional to “Sell” weight loss products that  he knows are useless and often potentially harmful.  Very harmful at that.

“THERE IS NO QUICK FIX/ NO MAGIC DIET/ NO MAGIC PILL/ NO MAGIC JUICE FROM SOME EXOTIC PLANT ENDORSED BY A T.V. DOCTOR/ NO SECRET FORMULAS . GET THE IDEA ??

WHAT THERE IS:

IS FANTASTIC MARKETING THAT IS INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL AT GETTING YOU TO PART WITH YOUR MONEY.

THEY HIRE THE BEST OF THE BEST, PAY MILLIONS TO PHYSCHOLOGISTS AND MARKETING EXPERTS TO FIND EVERY ONE OF YOUR WEAK SPOTS AND IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THEY WILL HAVE YOU BELIEVING THAT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE THIS TIME IT WILL BE DIFFERENT.

THAT THIS TIME IT WILL REALLY WORK. THAT THIS TIME YOU WILL FIND SOME “EASY” WAY TO ACHIEVE YOUR NORMAL WEIGHT AND STAY THERE.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and we used to have a few sayings in Brooklyn that are as true today as when I was a kid. “Don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see”,  A fool and his money are soon parted,  A sucker is born every minute (P.J. Barnum of Ringling Bros. , Barnum & Bailey Circus .)

As a doctor one of my responsibilities is to teach. (In fact I was once told that the word doctor means teacher. ) It is my duty to teach people the truth about their health.  NOT TO FOOL THEM AND MAKE MONEY FROM THEM.

If you really want to loose weight and regain your health you need to be armed with  the facts.  And one of the facts is that you cannot out run a bad diet.

YOU CANNOT BURN OFF FAT WITH EXERCISE.  IN FACT TOO MUCH EXERCISE WILL ACTUALLY MAKE YOU HOLD ON TO YOUR FAT !!!

So what’s the solution???

  1. Take Responsibility
  2.  Make a decision, “decide on what you really want and what you are willing to do to get it”
  3. Make a goal that is realistic and measurable.
  4. Educate yourself.  I will give you some good resources.
  5. Take action.
  6. Never give up.
